Why This Blog

When I explained to my son that 2,340 is the average number of days a kid spends in school from kindergarten through twelfth grade, he sighed, scrunched his face and said plainly, "That's so much." He's right. Mathematically speaking, 180 days x 13 years = "so much." Is it even possible to overstate the significance of these many days? The number fluctuates, of course, depending on the type of school you attend and where you live, but functions here as an average and a firm reminder of how and why we must get it right.  This blog seeks to explore what happens in schools, and to promote dialogue amongst parents, students and educators who seek to make the most of all of these 2,340 days.
